Tattoos of pinup girls can be seen all over the world. A beautiful young woman with flawless figure and sexy curves if often inked on one’s body. It reflects youthful rebelliousness and at the same time – sweet seduction of a mature woman. People crave for youthful, beautiful and powerful ideals that a woman’s body possesses and want to have it with them forever.
The name of such tattoos derived from the pictures, posters and calendars that could be place on walls, or pinned up to them. Images of beautiful women were and still remain one of the most popular themes for these posters and calendars – and for tattoo designs.
First pinup tattoos date back to 1920s. Such tattoos were usually inked in black and white or sepia and depicted popular model girls of that time in different poses and clothes (or even without them).
In 1955 young Betty Mae Page won the title “Miss Pin-up Girl of the World” and became the most famous prototype for tattoo designs. Her nickname was “Girl With The Perfect Figure” and even today we encounter a lot of people whose tattooed pinup girls resemble Betty – graceful, perfect bodies, long black curly hair and an enchanting expression of innocence and seduction at the same time.
Some of pinup illustrations are simply cartoons that are wearing exotic laced lingerie or leather, posing in different ways and are depicted in varied styles: they can be angels, devils, fairies and ever firefighters. A pinup girl usually embodies her owner’s ideal image of a woman – so many men, so many minds. So, there is no limit to imagination especially when we’re talking about a tattoo design of a beautiful woman.
